CBD Oil FAQ
At Dr. Hemp Me trust is the basis for all our decisions when it comes to our CBD oil formulation. How do we prove this & gain your trust?
Transparency! All of our CBD oils are tested for not only cannabinoids but metals and chemicals for every new batch. In this way, you can be assured that the CBD oil you are putting into your body is safe and of high quality.
When formulating our CBD we decided to keep the oil as natural as possible this is why the oil is dark and raw. By keeping the oil raw we have been able to retain all of the cannabinoids and terpenes within the oil.
What is CBD Oil?
CBD Oil is a food or diet supplement which comes in a tincture. It is made using two simple ingredients – hemp extract and hemp seed oil as a carrier oil.
CBD oil is made using the CBD cannabinoid, a chemical compound found within hemp. This is extracted from the hemp plant along with all other cannabinoids present in the plant to create a CBD oil formula.
CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is housed in a carrier oil, Hemp Seed Oil, so that it can be dropped under the tongue and absorbed through the gums. Hemp seed oil is simply the carrier product in which our hemp extract containing all beneficial compounds is housed.

Full-Spectrum & Broad-Spectrum – What is the Difference?
Full-Spectrum CBD in short is made using the whole hemp plant and contains the full spectrum of cannabinoids present in the plant (trace levels of THC included).
Broad-spectrum CBD in comparison contains all other cannabinoids present in the plant beside one. THC is eliminated during the extraction process to create a broad-spectrum product.
We strongly recommend using full-spectrum CBD as it gives way to something called the Entourage Effect. This is a positive effect on the body’s Endocannabinoid System as all additional cannabinoids including trace levels of THC work to support the CBD cannabinoid in the oil.
If you are concerned about routine drug testing in your profession, then we recommend using Broad-Spectrum CBD products. While full-spectrum CBD oil is perfectly safe and legal to consume, we cannot guarantee that trace levels of THC would not show up on a routine drugs test.
How do I take CBD Oil?
Taking CBD oil is simple and quick, thanks to the handy dropper attached to the cap of your bottle. Fill the dropper up with oil by squeezing. Next, drop the desired number of CBD oil drops under the tongue.
Hold the drops under the tongue for minimum 90 seconds. We prefer to hold for 2 minutes or more as this allows for maximum absorption of the oil. After this amount of time, you can swallow the oil and you are all done!
How many drops should I take?
We give a recommended dosage on every CBD Oil product label to guide customers. For example, our 10% full-spectrum CBD oil provides a guided dose of 5 drops per day to start.
This is just a recommendation as CBD is a food supplement and so the ideal dose for you may not be the same for another CBD user. We advise to increase the initial dose by 1 extra drop per week and continue this method if you feel you need more.
A little trial and error with dosing can be expected when starting out which is perfectly normal! Over a short time, you will discover the perfect CBD dose for you.
How does CBD oil work under the tongue?
CBD oil is absorbed into the bloodstream through the mucous membranes in the mouth. The oil is then carried to the brain and other organs where it can support the work and effects of the Endocannabinoid System.
CBD oil can take up to an hour to take effect when taken under the tongue but this varies from person to person of course. The effects of CBD oil are generally longer lasting when taken under the tongue as none is lost due to digestion.
Do I swallow my CBD oil?
CBD oil is not meant to be swallowed straight away. The oil is meant to be placed under the tongue and held there for 90 seconds or more before being swallowed. This allows the oil to be absorbed into the bloodstream through the mucous membranes in the mouth.
Swallowing the oil straight away will not allow it to be absorbed as efficiently. It may also cause a harsh sensation in the back of your throat due to the strong flavour.
You can choose to add CBD drops to a drink of juice or other beverage like a smoothie, tea or coffee if you wish to swallow it this way.
What does CBD do?
CBD Oil works in interaction with the body’s Endocannabinoid System. This is a cell-signalling regulatory network which sends messages or signals to areas of the body in need of adjustment or regulation.
The cannabinoid CBD, along with all other cannabinoids present in hemp, mirror the role of Endocannabinoids produced in the body naturally. They bind to receptors produced in the brain and send regulatory messages around the body.
The Endocannabinoid system is at work whether a person uses CBD or not. Scientists know that it regulates things like sleep cycles, hormones, stress responses and more. Taking CBD Oil means you are supporting the work of this system on a daily basis.
How can I tell if your oil is authentic?
When looking for CBD oil, be sure to do your research to ensure that you are getting a quality product. There are a few things that you can look for that will help you tell if the CBD oil is real.
First, check to see if the oil is made from hemp that is grown in the EU. This is important because hemp grown in the EU is subject to strict regulations, ensuring that the plants are free of pesticides and other harmful chemicals. We only source our CBD extract from organic hemp farms in the EU.
Second, you should look for CBD oil that is third-party tested. This means that an independent laboratory has tested the oil to ensure that it contains the amount of CBD that is listed on the label. Such tests also check for high levels of metals or chemicals in an oil. We test all our oils 3 ways before sale.
Finally, make sure that the company you are buying from is transparent about their manufacturing process and ingredients. A quality company will be happy to answer any questions you have about their products.
We pride ourselves on transparency! All lab tests can be seen on the associated product page or you can find all information on our dedicated laboratory test page.
What should CBD oil look and taste like?
Raw CBD oil should be a dark golden color, and it should have a mild, earthy taste. Some people also say that it has a grassy flavor. We maintain the natural flavor profile and raw nature of CBD oil by not adding any unnecessary additives to our formulas!
Are you able to give medical advice?
While many companies claim that CBD oil has therapeutic properties, this is technically illegal. CBD can and is only promoted as a food supplement by us at Dr. Hemp Me, in line with HPRA & EU regulations.
Like vitamins and other food supplements, all Cannabidiol products come with the same disclaimer. This product is a dietary supplement and should not be used to treat, cure, diagnose, or prevent any disease, nor should it be used to replace a balanced and healthy diet.
While we cannot offer medical advice, we can guide new customers in terms of product choice. Be sure to message us on our instant chat to talk about our various supplement options. Or, you can now watch our most asked questions via the video link on this page!
